Time on a 900 Mhz machine is about 10 ms.  Make it 5 ms.

1. Search must wait for all results to arrive before closing connection.
2. Error in MessageAgent/Message.  NullPointerException & hang, caused
by messageAgent trying to read after abandon, and waiting when
there are no messages on queue.  Move code around a little
so it waits only when needed.  Make Message more robust so no
problems happen after abandon, and remove two unused methods.
